About
On preserving folk traditions through practice
I am an Indian folk artist and workshop facilitator. I work in Madhubani, Pichwai, Lippan, Gond and texture art -- forms whose grammar is centuries old and still evolving in the hands of the people who keep them alive.
My practice moves between two rooms: a quiet one where I paint, and a louder one where I teach. The studio side is where I sit with a single piece for as long as it asks. The workshop side is where the same forms meet new hands -- children, beginners, professionals on a Saturday afternoon -- and become useful in a different way.
Folk art is a language. I am one of many speakers, trying to keep the conversation going.
