## Experience

### Cloud Consultant - Professional Services (DevOps/MLOps), Amazon Web Services

August 2024 - Present | Hyderabad, India | Full-time

Assisting enterprise customers in designing, migrating, implementing, and building scalable solutions on AWS with infrastructure automation and MLOps.

#### Lead DevOps Consultant - RWS (Ongoing) (Feb 2026 - Present)

- Accounts were created by a legacy pipeline and the landing zone had no infrastructure as code. I built it in Terraform: Organizations OUs with Control Tower baselines, SCPs and tag policies, and an account baseline that gives every account OIDC deploy roles and a security baseline (IMDSv2, EBS encryption, public-access blocks, no default VPC). 4,000+ resources across 20+ Terraform Cloud workspaces with none failing, and per-account setup cut ~90% (3+ days to under 4 hours).
- Every new VPC, route and firewall rule needed a network-team ticket. I built two Transit Gateway hubs in separate AWS Regions with Network Firewall inspection, VPN and Direct Connect, plus self-service onboarding: each new workload gets its own route table within 15 minutes and firewall access by tag in about a minute.
- Backup, patching and access were set up account by account. I moved them into code: AWS Backup with a delegated-admin vault and SSM Patch Manager in every workload account, and IAM Identity Center permission sets with least-privilege deploy roles.
- AWS IPAM had been ruled out on cost. I measured real billing in a sandbox, showed that prefix delegation cut the projected cost by about 94%, and the customer approved it; a multi-level IP pool tree is now live.
- Every production change goes through the customer's change control and is applied by their engineers. I mirrored the estate in a sandbox so each change runs there first through the same least-privilege role, and brought console-made changes into Terraform without a single diff.
- Faster delivery: a second landing zone foundation stood up in about four weeks, ahead of schedule; a blocker on a private Kubernetes endpoint was fixed the next day with a self-hosted Terraform agent; a hybrid network link went live in one day; reusable Terraform modules replaced copied code. Kiro and Claude Code drove the specs and 50+ design documents with 130+ architecture figures.
- Skills: AWS, AWS Organizations, SCPs, Tag Policies, Security Hub, Config Rules, Transit Gateway, VPC, Direct Connect, VPN, Route 53, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Cloud Migration, Solution Architecture, Kiro

#### DevOps Consultant - DTCC (Aug 2025 - Nov 2025)

- Refactored and created critical Terraform infrastructure code to enhance security and scalability, solving complex legacy modernization challenges in financial services.
- Used Amazon Q to accelerate code analysis and migration assessments, transforming infrastructure patterns to align with cloud-native principles.
- Partnered with client engineering teams on secure infrastructure practices and knowledge transfer.
- Skills: AWS, Terraform, Amazon Q, CloudFormation, DevSecOps, Cloud Migration

#### Medical Image Classification MLOps Pipeline (SME Program) (Jun 2025 - Aug 2025)

- Architected end-to-end MLOps pipeline on SageMaker, automating data processing, multi-model training, and ensemble model creation for medical image classification.
- Deployed production SageMaker endpoints with blue-green deployment, auto-scaling, and drift detection - enabling zero-downtime model updates with automatic rollback.
- Provisioned entire infrastructure with Terraform and built CI/CD via CodePipeline and CodeBuild, deploying CloudFront frontend and API Gateway + Lambda inference API.
- Generalized and published by AWS as an official sample under the aws-samples organization (MIT-0) - 86 Terraform files across 4 stacks and 13 reusable modules, with clinical quality gates, closed-loop drift retraining, and responsible-AI safeguards (Fairlearn bias gates, Model Cards, Bedrock Guardrails, A2I review).
- Skills: AWS, SageMaker, CloudWatch, Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, CodePipeline, CloudFront, Terraform, Python

#### DevOps Consultant - State Street (Oct 2024 - Aug 2025)

- Built Terraform for about 10 AWS services with automated tests (tftest, PyTest) on the landing zone team, part of the path that opened 38+ services to application teams.
- Designed Amazon Detective enablement: delegated admin moved from the Control Tower management account to the Audit account through an AFT customization, organization-wide auto-enable in Terraform, and GuardDuty findings cut from 6-hour to 15-minute notifications.
- Worked on EBS consumer-service design, compute service enablement and EC2 patching reviews, and on the security solution behind 1,000+ preventative controls aligned with CCMv4.0.
- Collaborated across Landing Zone, Compliance, Security and Migrations workstreams. The landing zone went live across the firm in 2025 (team result); the project closed with a 10/10 CSAT.
- Skills: AWS, Terraform, tftest, PyTest, EventBridge, CloudWatch, SNS, EBS, Detective, CCMv4.0, Security Hardening

## Projects

### Featured

- **SageMaker Image Classification MLOps** (July 2026): Published by AWS under the aws-samples organization (MIT-0) - an end-to-end, production-shaped MLOps pipeline for image classification on Amazon SageMaker, declared entirely in Terraform across 86 files and 13 reusable modules. Event-driven ingestion, multi-architecture training behind hard clinical quality gates, human-approved governed deployment, and a closed drift-to-retrain loop. The worked example classifies medical images, but the architecture is domain-agnostic.
  - Tech: Terraform, Amazon SageMaker, SageMaker Pipelines, Python, TensorFlow, AWS Lambda, EventBridge, CodePipeline, Amazon Bedrock
  - Problem: Taking an image classifier to production on SageMaker means wiring data validation, training, quality gates, governed deployment and drift monitoring into one lifecycle.
  - What I built: Wrote the whole pipeline in Terraform, 86 files across 4 stacks and 13 reusable modules, published by AWS under aws-samples (MIT-0).
  - Key decisions: Terraform owns every persistent resource; Lambda only orchestrates; Clinical quality gate is a hard pipeline condition, or nothing is registered; Every model registers as PendingManualApproval, so a person approves each deployment; Blue/green canary rollout that rolls back on error and latency alarms
  - Outcome: Drift and fairness alarms restart training on their own, a reviewer still approves every rollout, and scans report 0 checkov failed checks and 0 bandit issues.
  - Links: [GitHub](https://github.com/aws-samples/sample-sagemaker-image-classification-mlops)
- **AWS Organizations Governance on Control Tower** (September 2026): Published by AWS under the aws-samples organization (MIT-0), the second after the SageMaker MLOps sample - a Terraform governance layer for AWS Organizations on top of an existing Control Tower landing zone. It declares the OU hierarchy, all six Organizations policy types, Control Tower baselines and controls, and delegated administrators for 15 AWS services, all from the management account.
  - Tech: Terraform, AWS Organizations, AWS Control Tower, Service Control Policies, Resource Control Policies, AWS Security Hub, Amazon GuardDuty, IAM Identity Center
  - Problem: Teams on an existing Control Tower landing zone still need their OUs, all six Organizations policy types, controls and delegated administrators managed as code.
  - What I built: Wrote a Terraform root deployment for the management account, published by AWS under aws-samples, covering OUs, 21 policy documents, Control Tower controls and 15 delegated admins.
  - Key decisions: A root deployment, not a module, run only from the management account; Creates nothing in member accounts; Macie enablement is the one documented exception; Control Tower owned OUs are targeted but never recreated; Four classes of bad input are rejected at terraform plan, not apply
  - Outcome: Pick one of five scenarios, from minimal to data residency, set account IDs, and apply OU, policy, control and delegation changes from the management account.
  - Links: [GitHub](https://github.com/aws-samples/sample-aws-terraform-org-governance)
- **Kalchar** (May 2026): Production folk-art portfolio and commission site for a traditional artist - Madhubani, Pichwai, Lippan, and Gond artwork gallery with a buy filter, events, workshops, custom orders, and a server-rendered admin panel. Public pages are static, catalog lives in Neon Postgres behind a single data seam, and artwork images are served from Cloudflare R2.
  - Tech: Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS 4, Neon Postgres, Drizzle ORM, Cloudflare R2, Vercel
  - Problem: A traditional folk artist needed one site to show Madhubani, Pichwai, Lippan and Gond work, list events and workshops, and take custom orders.
  - What I built: Built the production site at kalchar.co.in, from the public gallery and order flows to a server-rendered admin panel.
  - Key decisions: Static/SSG public pages, server-rendered admin and auth on Vercel; Every catalog read goes through one data seam over Neon Postgres; Admin login with Auth.js and Google, gated by a maintainer allowlist in the DB; Artwork image variants served from Cloudflare R2
  - Outcome: Allowlisted maintainers manage artworks, events and the artist profile from the admin panel, and buyers hand off orders over WhatsApp.

- **GitScope** (March 2026): A Chrome extension plus web dashboard that adds deep GitHub profile insights - 9-stat grid, coding personality badges, language breakdown, activity heatmap, contribution donut, repo growth timeline, profile comparison, and a leaderboard across everyone you follow. Published on the Chrome Web Store with GitHub OAuth for traffic analytics.
  - Tech: JavaScript, TypeScript, Chrome Extension, Manifest V3, GitHub GraphQL API, Cloudflare Workers, esbuild
  - Problem: A GitHub profile page leaves out streaks, PR merge rate, language breakdown and head-to-head comparison with the people you follow.
  - What I built: Built a Manifest V3 Chrome extension that injects a stats panel into GitHub profiles, plus a React web dashboard and a Cloudflare Worker for OAuth.
  - Key decisions: Vanilla JS extension with zero runtime dependencies, bundled by esbuild; A Cloudflare Worker keeps the OAuth client secret server-side; Traffic analytics is a separate permission upgrade from basic sign-in; Local caching of 5 to 10 minutes to avoid redundant calls and rate limits
  - Outcome: Published on the Chrome Web Store, it adds a 9-stat panel to every GitHub profile you visit, and signed-in users see views, clones and referrers per repo.

- **Ledger Sync** (July 2026): A self-hosted personal finance dashboard (v2.28.0) with an AI chatbot that uses 15 read-only tool calls to answer questions about your spending, trends, tax, and goals. Upload Excel/CSV bank statements, get SHA-256 deduplication, 50/30/20 budgeting, bill calendar, GST analysis, subscription tracking, year-in-review, FIRE planning (Lean/Barista/Standard/Fat), India FY tax estimation, Sankey cash flow, and a Financial Health Score across 8 metrics.
  - Tech: TypeScript, React 19, FastAPI, SQLite, Tailwind CSS, AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, Anthropic
  - Problem: People want useful analysis of their own finances, including Indian fiscal-year tax planning, without granting direct bank access or paying a recurring subscription.
  - What I built: Built a self-hosted React 19 and FastAPI finance workspace with statement import, 26 protected workspace pages, and an AI assistant.
  - Key decisions: Statements are parsed in the browser; only validated JSON rows reach the API; Deterministic SHA-256 transaction IDs with occurrence counters keep re-imports idempotent; Ledger commit and analytics refresh are separate, so analytics can retry alone; The assistant fetches data through 15 read-only, user-scoped tools, not one large prompt
  - Outcome: Upload an Excel or CSV statement, then explore budgets, India FY tax estimates, FIRE plans and an 8-metric Financial Health Score, or ask the assistant.

- **LeetCode Rating Predictor** (December 2023): Full-stack LeetCode contest rating predictor using a Dense neural network trained on 121K+ contest records, featuring a FastAPI backend with LeetCode GraphQL integration and a React glassmorphism frontend.
  - Tech: Python, React 19, FastAPI, TensorFlow, Keras, GraphQL
  - Problem: LeetCode contestants want an estimate of how a given contest rank will change their rating.
  - What I built: Built a FastAPI backend that pulls ranks through LeetCode GraphQL and a React frontend, around a Dense neural network trained on past contest records.
  - Key decisions: Replaced an LSTM with a Dense network because the input is tabular; Serves with NumPy on exported weights; TensorFlow is needed only to retrain; All LeetCode data goes through GraphQL, since the REST ranking API is blocked; A golden test pins model output so a re-export cannot silently change predictions
  - Outcome: Test MAE is 7.84 rating points, and serving without TensorFlow shrank the runtime environment to ~65 MB instead of ~1.8 GB.
  - Links: [GitHub](https://github.com/Sagargupta16/LeetCode_Rating_Predictor) | [Live](https://leetcode-rating-predictor.onrender.com/)
- **Blue Green AWS Terraform** (July 2025): A comprehensive Infrastructure as Code solution for implementing Blue-Green deployment on AWS using Terraform, providing a complete CI/CD pipeline with zero-downtime deployments across ECS on EC2, ALB, CodePipeline, and KMS-encrypted artifacts.
  - Tech: Terraform, AWS, Docker, ECS on EC2, CodePipeline, HCL
  - Problem: Shipping a container to production without downtime needs blue/green routing, a promotion path from test to prod, and rollback, wired the same way in every environment.
  - What I built: Wrote the Terraform that provisions the network, ECR, CI/CD pipelines and three isolated ECS environments for dev, test and prod in one terraform apply.
  - Key decisions: Build once and promote the same artifact: test, manual approval, then prod; CodeDeploy canary sends 30% of traffic for 1 minute, with automatic rollback; Separate ECS cluster, ALB and Auto Scaling group per environment; One KMS key encrypts artifacts end to end; pipeline IAM has no wildcards
  - Outcome: A push to main builds once, passes an 80% test coverage gate, deploys to test, and reaches prod after approval with zero downtime.
  - Links: [GitHub](https://github.com/Sagargupta16/Blue_Green_AWS_Terraform)
- **Instagram Likes Leaderboard** (February 2026): A browser-based tool with three modes - Likes Leaderboard, Stats Dashboard, and Follower Analysis - that scans your Instagram posts and surfaces your biggest fans, ghost followers, non-mutuals, and engagement metrics. No downloads or sign-ups required.
  - Tech: TypeScript, Preact, Browser API, Instagram API, SCSS
  - Problem: Instagram shows a like count on each post, but not who your most frequent likers are or who does not follow you back.
  - What I built: Built a Preact and TypeScript bundle that runs in the browser console on your own profile and scans posts, likers and follow lists.
  - Key decisions: No server: requests go straight from your browser using your own session; One sequential requester, random 2 to 3 second gaps, capped at 250 requests; Auth, challenge or rate-limit responses stop the run with no retry; Completed scans cached locally for 24 hours, scoped to the account
  - Outcome: Paste one script and get a likes leaderboard, a stats dashboard and an optional follower comparison, with CSV and JSON exports and no sign-up.
  - Links: [GitHub](https://github.com/Sagargupta16/InstagramLikesLeaderboard) | [Live](https://sagargupta.online/InstagramLikesLeaderboard/)
- **Personal Portfolio** (October 2022): This site - a minimal dark developer portfolio with an ambient aurora background, project cards with live screenshots and animated SVG covers, and a fully data-driven JSON architecture. Built with React 19, Vite 8, Tailwind CSS v4, Motion, and Lenis smooth scroll.
  - Tech: React 19, Vite 8, Tailwind CSS v4, Motion, Lenis, EmailJS
  - Problem: A portfolio has to stay current across projects, experience and certifications without editing components every time something changes.
  - What I built: Built this site in React 19, TypeScript, Vite 8 and Tailwind CSS v4, with every section driven by JSON files under the data folder.
  - Key decisions: JSON content checked by a validator: required fields, unique IDs, cover parity; Sections load near the viewport instead of in the initial bundle; Persisted Full/Reduced motion toggle, with Full as the default; Certifications synced weekly from Credly and validated before the bot commits
  - Outcome: Most updates are a JSON edit, and CI deploys to GitHub Pages only after formatting, lint, types, data validation and the test suite pass.
  - Links: [GitHub](https://github.com/Sagargupta16/portfolio-react) | [Live](https://sagargupta.online/portfolio-react/)
- **SelfHub** (March 2025): A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that acts as your personal digital memory hub - store notes, preferences, code snippets, tasks, and any info from any MCP-enabled AI assistant (Claude Desktop, VS Code Copilot). Your personal knowledge base travels with you across AI conversations.
  - Tech: TypeScript, MCP, Node.js, pnpm
  - Problem: What you tell one AI assistant does not carry over to the next conversation or to a different MCP client.
  - What I built: Built a TypeScript MCP server with 9 tools for storing, searching and grouping memories, backed by MongoDB, for Claude Desktop and VS Code Copilot.
  - Key decisions: stdio transport, so Claude Desktop and VS Code launch it from their config; Separate MCP, service and storage layers over MongoDB via Mongoose; Contexts group related memories and load them on activation
  - Outcome: Any MCP client can store, search and recall the same memories, and they persist across server restarts in MongoDB.
